Festival coordinator notes this year’s Alberta films are amongst the strongest in history
For the first time in its history, The Calgary International Film Festival is featuring its local spotlight on five Alberta produced films: “A Legend of Whitey,” “Lloyd the Conqueror,” “Below Zero,” “Theo Fleury,“Playing with Fire” and “Wolves Unleashed.”

Showing the brighter side of the controversial music scene
When some people think of electronic music, they often associate the genre with ideas of underground raves and explicit drug use. The annual Calgary Electronic Music Festival, hosted Sept. 17 in downtown’s Shaw Millennium Park, aimed to show Calgarians that the local electronic music scene can safely cater to people of all ages and types.

Local singer details how to become an online musician
As an aspiring singer, Melissa Martens, 19, was pleasantly surprised by the process of recording her first EP. Martens finished recording her six song EP, titled “Standstill,” at the beginning of April and plans to release it on iTunes soon.
Martens says she wanted to record for years but didn’t know how to. She decided to turn to an expert: Elijah Lucian, founder of EvoLucian Music.
