Times change, but the shows still go on at Jubilations and Stage West
The concept is pretty simple: a stage and a restaurant within the same four walls. Entertain the belly, maybe toss back a cocktail, then sit back, digest and enjoy the show.

The basement of a house is crammed with a film crew, equipment and actors. Black curtains or cardboard sheets cover the windows to block out daylight and a large camera stands on a dolly.

Lack of live blues venues in city does not hinder growth of the Blues Festival
Looking down the Red Mile (17th Ave SW) considered a hotspot for Calgary nightlife, there isn’t a single venue solely dedicated to blues music. The King Edward Hotel on Ninth Avenue S.E. closed six years ago, leaving only the Shamrock Hotel, and Mikey’s Juke Joint and Eatery to hold onto Calgary’s blues scene by a thread.

Calgary’s 5th Fringe Festival still planting its roots
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe began in Scotland in 1947 and is one of the largest arts festivals in the world.
Here in Canada, the second largest Fringe Festival takes place each August in Edmonton, now drawing crowds of nearly 800,000 attendees.
