Nifty Fifties can stay in Parkdale but community association now fears for its future

Relief was the word that Alan Hinch, president of the Parkdale Nifty Fifties Seniors Association, chose to describe last month’s Court of Queen’s Bench ruling in their building-related dispute with the Parkdale Community Association (PCA).

This spring, the non-profit seniors group fought with the PCA over a potential $18,000-per-year rental charge. At issue was part of a City of Calgary-owned building in Parkdale, a space that’s used by the seniors group.
